Safer Internet Day

In February, the European public celebrates Safe Internet Day, introduced in 2004 by Insafe (European Safe Internet Network).

The main task of Safer Internet Day is to establish a dialogue between users of Internet services, government agencies, public organizations and representatives of business structures that provide these services and create the latest technologies, in order to raise awareness about safe and responsible use of the Internet (especially among children and youth).

According to experts, the main reasons for the emergence of virtual danger for children are the general availability of materials that contain pornography or promote violence and cruelty, the latent influence of the communicative features of the Internet, the lack of regulations that would legislate the concept of “pornographic products that corrupt children”, imperfection interaction between law enforcement and Internet service providers in this matter.
