Homelessness Symposium 2016 Wales

This annual event highlights the current problems when providing a safe space to make a discussion of its challenges. A year after a new Welsh Government, it will be considered the future priorities for homelessness policy across Wales and beyond the country.

Recent numbers define a 59% increase in homelessness in Wales and a level up in rough sleeping, in spite of the early successes of the Housing (Wales) Act. This meeting starts with a panel discussion describing around homelessness policy and legislation in Wales, after an address by the Cabinet Secretary for Communities and Children, Carl Sargeant.

The second plenary discussion will highlight the issues of homelessness and healthcare, in light of Cymorth Cymru’s recent Health Matters report, before a diversity of interactive webinars and plenaries held by experts from across the sphere. These sessions will cover data protection changes, temporary exclusions, trauma-informed approaches, examples of good practice and two group sessions: the first on how we can implement Housing First in Wales, and the second on ways of ending homelessness altogether.
