Awards for Young Musicians

Awards for Young Musicians (AYM) is a charity. For over 20 years, AYM has been supporting talented young musicians from low-income families throughout the United Kingdom, helping them to overcome financial and social barriers in their musical journeys. AYM is offering individual support to young people, their programmes sustain young people’s musical progress and help teachers identify and nurture talent wherever they find it.

Programmes

AYM has 4 programmes:

  1. Identifying Talent: training teachers in how to spot young people’s musical potential;
  2. Furthering Talent: targeting and sustaining young people’s emerging talent through strategic support;
  3. Awards: funding young talent UK wide through annual grants and tailormade help for individual musicians;
  4. Innovation and Research: leading new thinking and action on talent development.

Eligibility

You can apply for an AYM Award if:

  1. You’re aged 5 – 17;
  2. You’re living and studying in the UK;
  3. You’re an instrumentalist, composer, producer or song-writer.

Awards for Young Musicians accepts applications from January to April.
