The Process
Before you volunteer, there are a number of things you should think about to help you find an opportunity that is right for you.
Step 1 – It’s YOUR Choice
- Think about what you can offer others – what skills have you got?
- What are you hoping to gain out of volunteering?
- Would you like to work alone or as part of a group?
- Chose to work with people, a particular topic or organisation that you are interested in
- Decide how much time you can afford
Step 2 – Contact the Volunteer Centre
Contact the Volunteer Centre to arrange a confidential, informal chat about volunteering. You can do this by:
- Phone: 01639 631387
- Email: info@nptcvs.org.uk
- Drop in: 36 Orchard Street, Neath.
Step 3 – Volunteer Appointment
When you visit we can:
- Discuss volunteering options
- Complete your Volunteer registration form
- Decide on the opportunity/organisation you’re interested in
- The Volunteer Centre will refer you to your chosen organisation(s)
Step 4 – Chosen Organisation(s) will Contact You
They will:
- Give you more information about what they do
- Tell you what days/hours are available
- Arrange for you to meet up with them
Step 5 – You Decide
To help you decide whether the chosen organisation(s) is the right one for you, you may decide to:
- Volunteer with the organisation for 4 weeks before deciding you want to commit
- Look at other organisations
- Come back to the Volunteer Centre to discuss other options
