Daniel’s Story

Neath Citizens Advice Bureau

After University I felt I needed to gain more experience in order to gain employment. Therefore Neath Port Talbot CVS helped me get on the placement as a trainee advisor with Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB), as part of the Gateway process.  Doing such a placement made sure I was kept occupied rather than sitting with nothing to do. The placement allowed me to learn a range of skills including working with others, telephone skills and being fully trained as a CAB advisor. This experience is something I have been able to put on my CV to add to the academic qualifications I already have.

My volunteering was also registered with Millennium Volunteers, where you get recognition for the amount of hours you volunteer. I was awarded a certificate for doing 200 hours of voluntary work!
