Care Council For Wales Appointment of Members

Tuesday, January 10th, 2012

Members will receive remuneration at a daily rate of £198 (gross) and will be expected to commit up to 2 days per month to work for the Council. Remuneration will be based on this time commitment. Members will also receive reasonable travelling and subsistence costs for all events they are required to attend.

The Care Council for Wales is a Welsh Government Sponsored Body created to regulate the social care workforce and raise standards through better training and recognition. Working with an open, transparent, and inclusive approach, members bring the interests of service users, carers, employers, employee organisations, trainers and the general public in Wales, to the work of the Council.

We seek to appoint 3 new members to the Council:

• 2 Members to bring the lay perspective of a service user.

• 1 Member to bring the current perspective of higher education and training (Social work) in Wales

It is important that members are able to bring a current understanding of social care issues in Wales and a strategic steer to the work of the Council and can support effective governance arrangements. Members would be expected to bring their particular perspective to bear on Council business and should be effective and persuasive communicators.

Welsh language

The Council is very keen to have the perspective of Welsh speakers on its Council. Currently, other than the Chair, there aren’t any Welsh language speakers on the Council and it is keen to address this, in line with the Welsh Government’s Welsh Language Strategy.

Applicants who are able to speak Welsh and who meet the criteria set out in the information for candidates document are therefore encouraged to apply.

It is the policy of the Welsh Government to promote and integrate equality of opportunity into all aspects of its business including appointments to public bodies. It welcomes and encourages applications from groups currently under-represented including women, minority ethnic communities and disabled people. The principles of fair and open competition will apply and appointments will be made on merit.

For further information, and to apply, please visit the Welsh Government website or for queries contact (029) 2082 5454 / hr-helpdesk@wales.gsi.gov.uk.

The closing date for receipt of applications is 27 January 2012. Application received after this date will not be considered. It is expected that interviews will be held during March/April.

Visit Wales Destination Amenities Scheme

Wednesday, October 5th, 2011

To create a successful and sustainable visitor economy in an area, all the components that make a successful destination need to be managed in an integrated way.

The objective of the TISS Destination Management scheme is to enhance the visitor experience through what may be individually small but collectively significant improvements to visitor amenities and the local environment in support of destination management plans.
