BAWSO Training Programme

BAWSO are holding a number of training programmes throughout March – May 2010.  Bawso aims to spread knowledge and understanding in order to raise awareness.   The training schedule; which covers forced marriage, female genital mutilation, domestic abuse from a BME perspective, cultural diversity and victims of trafficking; is shown on the training page of the website.

Accrediting work based learning in social care project

Background – The Care Council for Wales is undertaking a project to explore the use of accreditation of work based learning in social care. The project will result in some pilot work with employers in social care to initially accredit in house learning on the Credit and Qualification Framework for Wales. This will benefit employers, learners and service users alike and will include within its scope voluntary, private and public sectors. Applied Suicide Interventions Skills Training

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training is a two day workshop that offers intensive training for front-line workers and community members. The emphasis is on teaching suicide first-aid to help a person at risk stay safe and seek further help as needed. ASIST provides practical training for caregivers seeking to prevent the immediate risk of suicide.
