Wales was the first country in the UK to establish the post of Commissioner for Older People. The Commissioner is an independent champion for older people who promotes and safeguards their interests. The Office of the Commissioner for Older People was established in April 2008.
The post is for four years with the possibility of another four year term to follow subject to an open competition. This is a full time appointment. The office of the Commissioner is in Cardiff Bay.
