Budget Engagement Workshops

A series of three workshops will be taking place that will be delivered by Stephen Phillips, Chief Executive -Neath Port Talbot CBC, and Gaynor Richards, Director – Neath Port Talbot CVS.

The workshops will specifically target Third Sector organisations and will address the very latest budget implications for organisations, groups and individuals in the sector. The series of workshops will begin at 2.00pm on 8th November 2010, 10.00am on 15th December 2010 and 10.00am on 18th January 2011 all to be held at Neath Port Talbot CVS. BBC Budget at-a-glance

The BBC have launched a ‘Budget key points: At-a-glance’ page which gives a very comprehensive summary of the Budget changes.  It outlines the key points of Chancellor George Osborne’s first Budget, delivered on 22 June 2010.

‘Changing Places’ Meeting

Neath Port Talbot CVS hosted a breakfast meeting on June 11th, on behalf of the High Sheriff of West Glamorgan, Rowland Jones, where he outlined his programme of activity for his term of office.

Held at Blanco’s Hotel, the meeting, entitled ‘Changing Places’, aimed to bring together local businesses to explore ways in which they could work with local communities to the benefit of each other.  Along with key partners in the public and third sector, the private sector has a key role to play in making a difference in our communities, whether by providing inspiration, role models or practical support and advice.

The valleys in particular, have natural assets in terms of beauty and heritage that can, along with its people, be used to improve the economic prosperity of its communities.

In partnership with Neath Port Talbot CVS, the High Sheriff intends to hold a number of smaller events in local communities, involving business and community organisations, to discuss ways of developing their local area and increasing opportunities for economic prosperity.

‘Tell Us’ Campaign – Welsh Assembly Government

The Deputy First Minister Ieuan Wyn Jones has launched a new initiative to encourage the people and businesses in Wales to help shape the Assembly Government’s approach to economic development. The ‘Tell Us’ campaign is asking for the views of every part of Welsh society – from individuals, companies, Universities and Unions – on the Welsh economy and the new Economic Renewal Programme.

Promoting Economic Participation In Wales – WCVA Conference

Mortage Rescue Action Plan

A new plan to help homeowners facing repossession was launched by the Deputy Minister for Housing, Jocelyn Davies AM on 24 June.
