Welsh Assembly Government Consultation ‘Delivering digital inclusion – A strategic framework for Wales’

WCVA will be responding to this consultation and would therefore welcome your views on the framework especially within the context the transferring of public services online, how the sector can enable this for excluded groups and what it would need to do this.

Welsh Assembly Government Consultation on Child Minding & Day Care Regulations

Older People’s Commissioner for Wales Review

The Older People’s Commissioner for Wales is undertaking a Review on whether older people are treated with dignity and respect whilst in hospital.The aims of the Review are:

  • to consider older people’s experiences, both good and bad, when they are hospital in-patients
  • to make practical recommendations where people are not treated with dignity and respect and
  • to spread good practice where they are.

Neath Port Talbot Council for Voluntary Service is currently gathering evidence that will be submitted to the Older People’s Commissioner for Wales.  If you would like to provide evidence for the review please complete the questionnaire on the Older Persons Page and return by Friday 6th August 2010

‘Care at Home’ Workforce Study

A copy of the results of the ‘Care at Home’ workforce study is now available on the Care Council for Wales’ website. The study, which was commissioned by the Care Council for Wales and conducted by the Welsh Institute for Health and Social Care, the University of Glamorgan, Insight Social Research and the Management Standards Consultancy, looked at:

  • what the workforce currently looked like;
  • the vision for the future workforce; and
  • what was needed to make the current workforce fit for the future.

They invite you to consider and to debate the results of the study and to let them have your views. There will be a major action planning event on 28 September 2010 which will allow the audience to discuss the findings with the researchers and other specialists in the field, and to contribute to determining the next steps. In the autumn, the study and the response we have received from our partners will be reported to the Welsh Assembly led Social Care & Social Work Workforce Task group whose terms of reference include care at home. or more information, for a hard copy of the Care at Home Summary Report and to feed in your comments on the study, please contact Sheila Lyons, Manager, Development and Innovation (Adult Services) by email – sheila.lyons@ccwales.org.uk.

Review of arrangements for visits to prisoners

HMP Swansea are reviewing arrangements for visits to prisoners at HMP Swansea; the review will include provision for social/domestic, professional and official visits. As part of this review, they would like to invite your department or agency to advise them of suggestions or requirements which you would like them to consider implementing. You may do so in writing or, if you prefer, by telephoning: Helen Davey 01792 485389, Dave Riddell 01792 485050. Should you wish to discuss this further, they will set aside some time for consultation. A steering group will meet on 5th July so responses before that date would be most welcome but please feel free to contact them at any time.

Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board – Welsh Language Scheme Consultation

The Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board is preparing its first Welsh Language Scheme to replace existing separate schemes of the former NHS organisations (Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University NHS Trust, and the Bridgend, Neath Port Talbot and Swansea Local Health Boards). They would like to invite you to comment on the priorities identified within our draft Scheme. The consultation runs from 5 – 23 March 2010. New Dates for Locality Meetings

Neath Port Talbot CVS has organised three local information and funding events, one was held in January and the other two (which were postponed due to poor weather) will be held in March. Information stands will be available from local service providers and funding advice/support will be given. They will be held between 1.00pm and 6.00pm on:

• Friday 19th March,  St Theodore’s Church, Port Talbot
