Neath Port Talbot Council for Voluntary Service

This year’s National Planning Aid Conference is being held in Cardiff on Thursday 29^th April and the morning of Friday 30^th April 2010.  It will bring together a range of people from all over the UK in a friendly, relaxed environment that will encourage them to exchange ideas, inspire, and learn from each other.  

The conference is open not only to planning aid staff and volunteers, but also to representatives from community and voluntary groups, community and town councils and others who have been or are currently involved with the planning system. The idea is that planning aid really only makes sense when it is supporting people within the community to help them realise their visions and practical projects.

The conference, which will be chaired by Kelvin MacDonald of the University of Cambridge, is an invaluable opportunity for those involved in planning aid and community work throughout the UK to come together to be inspired and develop new ideas.

A networking event for Communities First Partnerships is to be held between 4.00pm and 6.00pm on Tuesday 23rd March 2010 at Margam Orangery. The event will close at 6pm with a buffet and time to chat with fellow partnership members! A full programme and directions to the venue will be sent on registration. As part of the Siaradwn Ni – Let’s Talk project being delivered across Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend, Mental Health Matters Wales is hosting an annual conference over the next 5 years. Hallmarks seminar – ‘Hallmarks of a well run charity’

WCVA, in partnership with Watts Gregory LLP accountants and the Charity Commission, will be presenting a half day seminar: Hallmarks of a well run charity – regulatory and accounting essentials, to be held at Baltic House, Cardiff on 30 April. This innovative seminar will review both the governance and financial management issues identified by the Commission’s Hallmarks publication, essential for the sound running of any charity.

Charity Law Conference – ‘Wales Charity Law Conference 2009′

WCVA is pleased to give advance notice of the Wales Charity Law Conference 2009, presented in partnership with Geldards LLP.  This year’s conference will be held in Cardiff on 21st May 2009, and will offer the usual spread of high quality presentations and workshops on a variety of legal topics. It will also place some focus on the recessionary environment, looking at relevant legal issues and strategies to manage them.
