Western Valleys Strategic Regeneration
In 2009 the Welsh Assembly Government designated the Western Valleys as a Strategic Regeneration Area (WVSRA) as a means of achieving sustainable regeneration across the five local authority areas.
As the WVSRA moves into its second year each local authority has been tasked with producing local regeneration plans based upon individual valleys to evidence the needs of local areas and to ensure that any projects supported are addressing needs. The Valley Area Regeneration Plans (VARPs) will need to be endorsed by area forums to make sure that a shared agenda for regeneration is established.
