Volunteer for Health

Volunteering is Good for You!

The benefits of volunteering are increasingly being recognised not only for the recipient but also for the volunteer themselves.

There is much anecdotal evidence to show the general benefits of volunteering – from making new friends and experiencing new opportunities and challenges, to enhancing employability. It can benefit people of all ages and backgrounds – students, young professionals, and those who are unemployed or retired.

Studies have shown that 95% of volunteers report that personal helping on a regular basis gives them an immediate physical feel-good sensation, including warmth, increased energy, and a sense of euphoria, called ‘helper’s high.
