Participation, Engagement and Advocacy Partnership
The Children, Young People and Families Participation Officer post is a Children and Young People’s Partnership post hosted by Neath Port Talbot CVS. The post is in place to:
- Enable children, young people and their families in Neath Port Talbot to actively participate in the planning, design, commissioning, delivery and evaluation of services that impact on their lives.
- Lead the work of the Participation, Engagement and Advocacy Partnership.
- Assist in the delivery of the priorities identified within the Children and Young People’s Plan
- Promote best practice in participation to partner agencies and organisations and raise the profile and promote the benefits of participation for children, young people and their families, the organisations working with them and for the communities they live in.
The Participation Officer does this by co-ordinating the Youth Council in partnership with NPT Youth Service. This includes, sub-groups on Health, Communities, Violence against Young People and Crime against Young People. The Communities Group is currently looking at skateboarding, biking and scooter venues and where they are needed across Neath Port Talbot. He supports the Young Inspector’s Programme through training and co-ordinating inspections of organisations and overseeing the Young Researchers, who are looking into children’s rights with under 10 year olds. There are opportunities for Young people to be involved in all aspects of this work.
