Older People’s Champion Appointed

Councillor John Rogers B.E.M. J.P. has represented the people of the Taibach Ward for 31 years, the ward includes Taibach, Goytre and a large part of Margam. He has recently taken over the Cabinet position of Social Care, Health and Housing which includes the important role of Neath Port Talbot Champion for Older People. He has recently become an older person and understands the issues affecting older people and in an age where people are living longer with ever increasing needs it is important there is a Champion to keep people informed and at the fore front of the discussions and decisions being made, policies and services which affect those over the age of 50. Councillor Rogers has 31 years experience of dealing with issues which affect older people and will work in partnership with groups and the third sector to make sure the quality of life for older people is improved.
