Neath Port Talbot Local Development Plan – ‘Pre-Deposit’ Formal Consultation

Thursday, September 15th, 2011

The Neath Port Talbot ‘Pre-Deposit’ LDP is to be published for consultation for a period of 6 weeks – beginning on Monday 5th September and ending on Monday 17th October 2011. The Pre-Deposit Plan sets out the Authority’s vision, strategic options, preferred strategy and key policies which will shape the way in which the County Borough will develop in the period to 2026. The document has been produced following consultation and participation with stakeholders, and its publication presents an important opportunity for all those interested to submit representations (either in support or objection) to its content. The Pre-Deposit LDP and associated documents including the Sustainability Appraisal (incorporating Strategic Environmental Assessment) and Habitats Regulation Assessment will be available for inspection on the Council’s website and printed copies of the documents will be available for public inspection at each of the Civic Centres, One Stop Shop at Pontardawe and at any of the libraries within the County Borough. The closing date for submissions is midnight on 17th October 2011. Once the consultation has ended, Councillors will consider all responses and the work will then go forward to shape the next stage of the plan – the Deposit Plan. If you would like this information in another language, or if you wish to discuss this further, then please contact the LDP team either by e-mail on ldp@npt.gov.uk or by phone on (01639) 686421

Bridging the Gap

Monday, June 27th, 2011

Bridging the Gap shows how the third sector provides services to support people through illness, injury, or longer term chronic ill health. Importantly the report also shows the third sector’s valuable contribution in the identification of local service models and solutions, as well as those service responses that can be delivered nationally where appropriate. Bridging the Gap stimulates ideas and approaches for collaboration and the development of service solutions. It doesn’t stop with the report: there is a 12 point action plan for the Local Health Boards to work with the third sector, including a review in April 2012.

Third Sector Health, Social Care and Wellbeing Strategy

Thursday, November 11th, 2010

Neath Port Talbot has a relatively poor health profile and has some of the worst determinants of health in Wales. Within NPT we have high levels of chronic conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, respiratory disorders and stroke. The Welsh Health Survey shows that NPT residents make poor lifestyle choice with the majority of health indicators for NPT being worse than the Welsh average.

Climbing Higher – Creating an Active Wales

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

The proposed Climbing Higher – creating an active Wales strategic action plan focuses on ensuring that we all build physical activity into our daily routines. It forms part of Our Healthy Future, the Welsh Assembly Government’s strategic approach to improve the quality and length of life.

‘Creating an Active Wales’ recognizes the importance of having a built environment that supports people to be active and having access to green spaces. The Consultation is running for 16 weeks from 5 May 2009 – 25th August 2009.  The plan also acknowledges the need to provide support for people to become more physically active through targeted programs that support behavioural change.  More information can be obtained on the Consultation Page.
