Climate Change Poetry Competition

Poetry Competition on Climate Change for adults and children

Closing date: 31st March 2012

Adults: 1st £500; 2nd £100; 3rd £50

Children: 1st £50; 2nd £30; 3rd £20

Adults: £3 per poem or 4 for £10

Entry details:

All poems submitted must be original work of the entrant. They cannot be returned so please don’t send your only copy. Each poem should be no more than 40 lines on any aspect of the theme of Climate Change. It must be typewritten. Please don’t put your name or address on the poems. Instead, you should put your name, contact details and titles of all poems submitted on an accompanying piece of paper.

The closing date is 31st March 2012. Prize winners will be notified by May 2012.

A prize-giving evening will take place on June 8th 2012 at Pontardawe Arts Centre.

Copyright of each poem remains with the author, but Awel Aman Tawe has the unrestricted right to publish the winning poems.

You may submit as many poems as you like as long as your entry is accompanied by the correct fee. Cheques payable to Awel Aman Tawe.

FRSB / IOF Fundraising Training in March 2012

5 things every small charity needs to know about fundraising

We are delighted to announce that the Fundraising Standards Board (FRSB) in Wales is funding three small charity training days, delivered by the Institute of Fundraising (IoF), during March 2012.

Aimed specifically at charities with voluntary incomes under £1 million, this series of courses is aimed at building the fundraising skills of smaller organisations. The two topics will be:

  • Building an effective case for support
  • Raising funds from the local community and event

Heritage Lottery Fund: changes to small grants programmes

From April 2012, the maximum grant limit for Your Heritage applications is increasing form £50,000 to £100,000.

The maximum grant limit for Young Roots applications is also increasing from £25,000 to £50,000. Young Roots projects can last up to two years (up from 18 months) and the age range widened to include young people from 11 – 25 years old (previously started at 13 years old).

Also from April 2012, HLF will make decisions on Your Heritage and Young Roots applications at bi-monthly meetings. A full list on submission deadlines and decision meetings can be found on the website. 

As always, if you have an idea for a heritage project HLF encourages seeking pre-application advice using the on-line portal
