			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Age Cymru Swansea Bay are looking for people in Neath Port Talbot who are passionate about older people’s rights and can help us to make sure that older people are treated fairly and with the dignity and respect that they deserve.</p>
<p>Advocates are independent non-judgemental people who act on behalf of older people who may be isolated, vulnerable or unable to speak out for themselves.</p>
<p>Volunteer advocates are fully trained and mentored by experienced staff.</p>
<p><strong>Could you:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Help people understand their rights?</li>
<li>Help ensure that people’s basic human needs are met</li>
<li>Support clients and help to make sure that their wishes are known</li>
<li>Speak up on behalf of an older person</li>
<li>Help people access appropriate services</li>
<li>Provide independent information to older people when they facing life changing decisions, allowing them to make informed choices.</li>
</ul>
<p>They are looking for people to become a Volunteer who have the following attributes:</p>
<ul>
<li>Have an empathy and understanding of the issues that affect older people</li>
<li>Are able to communicate effectively with older people</li>
<li>Are non-judgemental</li>
<li>Are reliable and dependable</li>
<li>Are willing to undertake training as necessary and Protection of Vulnerable Adult Training as a must when you join Age Cymru Swansea Bay and annually thereafter (based at our Swansea Office)</li>
<li>Are willing to complete and maintain accurate written records</li>
<li>Are willing to be subject to an Enhanced CRB check</li>
<li>Are computer literate</li>
<li>Are friendly and enjoy working as part of a team</li>
<li>Willingness to travel throughout the County of Neath Port Talbot</li>
</ul>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Organisations within the Third Sector are being given a unique opportunity to get their voices heard about their current and future skills needs across the region.</p>
<p>A survey, in the form of a questionnaire, has been jointly developed by the Regional Learning Partnership (RLP) and partners within the county’s five voluntary councils (CVC’s).</p>
<p>This forms part of a wider profiling exercise, funded by the European Social Fund (ESF), through the RLP, which seeks to define the regional picture of the third sector and demonstrate its contribution to education, skills and regeneration.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>ASH Wales are pleased to announce a</strong> <strong>one day training session in Cardiff on the 29th of Feb</strong>.</p>
<p><strong>About the Training</strong></p>
<p>A dynamic hands on training course that empowers participants with effective ways of addressing tobacco use with young people. Topics such as prevention, cessation and tobacco advocacy with young people will be covered.</p>
<p><strong>Who Should Attend?</strong></p>
<p>Youth workers, teachers, staff from pupil referral units, youth detention centre staff, school nurses and health visitors. If you want to address tobacco use with young people in your area then this course is for you.</p>
<p><strong>Why Attend?</strong></p>
<p>Smoking and tobacco use are rightly included as major contributors to poor health in Wales. More than any other issue, tobacco use is the greatest driver of health inequalities. The training covers topics such as :</p>
<p>1. Tobacco use prevention</p>
<p>2. Support for smoking cessation</p>
<p>3. Developing advocacy and participation skills with young people around tobacco control and smoking awareness.</p>
<p><strong>Where will it be?</strong></p>
<p>Training venue to be confirmed but it will be held within Cardiff</p>
<p><strong>What time and when will it be?</strong></p>
<p>The training is a full day with registration <strong>commencing at 9:30 am</strong> and the training will end approximately 15:30 on the <strong>Wednesday 29th of February 2012</strong></p>
