Kellogg’s Swim Active Programme

Tuesday, October 18th, 2011

The Kellogg’s Swim Active Programme offers grants to not for profit organisations to help the development of innovative projects that encourage any aquatic activity which enhances motivation, removes barriers and increases participation in swimming. Projects can be revenue based, capital based or a mix of both. The Fund has no minimum or maximum limit, although it is not an unlimited financial resource. It is preferred if organisations think about whether their application can include an element of partnership funding in cash or in kind. This is not essential, but is seen as a useful indication that others support the idea and are prepared to back it. The closing date for applications is 1 December 2011.

Sustainable Steps programme

Monday, September 26th, 2011

The Sustainable Steps programme opens on Friday 30th September 2011. The programme aims to:

Support communities across Wales to reduce carbon emissions and adapt to climate change by developing skills, changing behaviour and promoting wider sustainable development.

We are looking to fund a single Wales wide project to help develop the capacity and capability of communities across Wales, to take action on climate change. £620,000 is available over 2 years to fund the project. The successful project is likely to be a partnership that will engage with communities that have previously taken little or no action to address the causes and consequences of climate change. It will support these communities by providing a wide range of initial advice, training and mentoring support.

The deadline for completed outline proposal forms is 12 noon, Friday 4th November 2011. If you are interested in applying we are holding two briefing and networking events:

Home Office Opens Community Action Against Crime Innovation Fund

Tuesday, September 20th, 2011

the Home Office have recently released 5 million pounds for 20011/12 & a similar sum for 2012/2013 to “encourage greater community activism, and to enable communities to develop innovative approaches to tackling local crime issues that matter to them”. This money is particularly targeted at “grass root activists who do not normally receive government grants”; full details and application forms are available from the link. The UK Government are keen that applications should be innovative, be of lasting benefit and deal with particular issues that matter to local communities. The specific aspects they want to target are antisocial behaviour, crime in local neighbourhoods, substance misuse, reoffending, violence against women & girls & youth crime. The Safer Neath Port Talbot Partnership is keen to support local groups that feel they wish to put in an application for this funding. Bids are able to be made until December 1st 2011 and we understand that monies are being allocated on a “first come first served” basis. We would, therefore, strongly advise that any organisation who is considering making an application discuss the matter beforehand with either, Sian Morris (Community Safety Officer 01639 889161) or Chief Inspector Andy Kingdom (South Wales Police 01792 562892). We will be able to provide data to support applications, endorsement for suitable projects and to advise & assist in the process. It is also important that the Partnership is aware of what projects are being put forward to be able to provide expertise and help avoid duplication.
