WCVA’s Regional Policy Event: “Funding your future: New European programmes and loan finance”

Friday, March 2nd, 2012

Almost £100m of European Structural Funds was accessed by the third sector during the current round of European funding. But what will the 2014-2020 programmes look like? How can we influence the design of the new programmes, and what funding oppportunites are they likely to present?

This event will inform delegates about the developments that are taking place within the design of the new European programmes and will be of interest to any organisation planning their funding future. The event will also offer an opportunity to learn how loan finance, through WCVA’s Communities Investment Fund, can support third sector enterprise in Wales.

If you would like to attend please click these links below to download the booking form and programme. Please return the booking form and £12.00 per delegate to me no later than Thursday 5 April 2012. Bookings are only secured upon receipt of payment.

If you have any problems downloading the documents please contact the Helpdesk on 0800 2888 329 or email policy@wcva.org.uk

Chwarae Teg International Women’s Day Event – 8th March 2012

Friday, March 2nd, 2012

Festivities will be taking place at Swansea’s National Waterfront Museum on Thursday 8 March between 11am and 3pm. Women of all ages and walks of life are welcome to drop in free of charge to browse the stalls and goods on display, meet other women and learn more about the way people from all over the world commemorate this annual occasion. There will be a wide variety of stalls ranging from women’s organisations such as Women’s Aid, the Minority Ethnic Women’s Network, Soroptimist International and Platform 51 (formerly the YWCA) to crafts, gifts and jewellery.

The first International Women’s Day in 1911 saw over a million men and women campaign for women’s rights to vote, be paid equally and to live without discrimination. Over the last 100 years, it has grown significantly to become a worldwide event focusing on the positive aspects of womanhood and is now a national holiday in 27 countries from Afghanistan to Zambia, but not yet in Wales!

The event is being organised by Chwarae Teg with support and thanks to the Waterfront Museum for providing the venue. This year’s celebration coincides with Chwarae Teg’s twentieth anniversary of championing women in Wales. We hope to see you there – girls, women, mothers, grandmothers, family members – all welcome! For more information go to www.chwaraeteg.com or contact Anwen Newman/Lucy Rees,Chwarae Teg, Anchor Court, Keen Road, Cardiff CF24 5JW

Embracing Recovery

Tuesday, February 28th, 2012

A two-day training event designed for practitioners, commissioners, managers, mentors and volunteers.

This pilot has been funded by the Welsh Government for the Swansea area.

This event is brought to you by NewLink Wales and Recovery Cymru, working in collaboration to provide a highly specialised training opportunity. Both organisations are fully committed to supporting the recovery movement and would like to take this opportunity to advance the understanding of the sector, while promoting best practice. This is not just another training course. This is a full and meaningful exploration of what recovery is, the many pathways to recovery and the many dimensions the recovery journey can take, and how these best inform a recovery oriented system of care. Our main aim is to challenge the myths that surround this subject and to encourage the integration of recovery-based principles into front-line practice. Day 2 of the course emphasises how practitioners, managers and commissioners can most effectively support people in working towards recovery through applying practice techniques. This training is delivered by highly experienced professionals who also have personal experience of recovery from substance misuse.
